Obaid Kazmi is a managing director in the Expert Services practice, based in Dubai. In addition, Obaid leads the Commercial Expert Analysis division for the Middle East. He leverages over 23 years of experience providing expert witness and forensic accounting services across a variety of industries. His practice focuses on quantifying damages, assessing lost profits and conducting forensic accounting exercises for matters involving the Middle East.

Prior to joining Kroll, Obaid was a senior member of a Big Four accounting firm’s Forensic Accounting practice and a global professional services firm. He has worked in the U.S. and the United Arab Emirates. His work experience spans the globe, and he has worked on matters in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Pakistan, India, Mexico, Canada, Panama, Venezuela and Columbia.

Obaid’s expertise lies in commercial disputes and damages claims that include a Middle East nexus and are primarily heard in arbitrations. He has served as a testifying expert, consulting expert, independent expert determiner, and an arbitrator in disputes heard across the Middle East.

While Obaid’s expertise is generally sector agnostic, his experience crosses a variety of sectors including real estate, technology, manufacturing, energy, education, hospitality, construction and logistics. 

Obaid specializes in quantifying damages in shareholder and joint venture disputes, as well as assessing damages and lost profits resulting from contractual disputes. He is proficient in assessing the financial ramifications of improperly terminated agency and distributor agreements, and he has extensive experience in assessing the impact COVID-19 has had on businesses. Additionally, Obaid excels in quantifying damages in post-acquisition disputes and is adept at conducting forensic accounting examinations, evaluating effects of alleged fraud, bribery and corruption, enabling him to provide valuable insights and reliable assessments in complex matters.

Obaid holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Delaware and a master’s degree in business administration from the Hult International Business School. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Fraud Examiner.
